Okeechobee is a Seminole Indian word meaning "great water, can not see other side". And as its meaning suggests, Lake Okeechobee is large. It is 748 square miles of sport fishing, commercial fishing, and water recreation. Lake Okeechobee is the second largest fresh water lake in the United States and the greatest provider of south Florida's drinking water. But best of all, Lake Okeechobee has BASS, small ones, big ones (Lunkers), and lot of them.
